Boost your energy levels naturally

A short introductory episode outlining my plans for the podcast and what you can expect from me each week.

I also introduce my weekly segment – herb of the week – and talk about my absolute favourite herb…which ultimately helps improve energy.

Podcast Transcript:

Hello and welcome to my very first podcast. I am so excited to be here and I am a very grateful to you for listening in and I hope that I inspire you to take some action towards bettering your health.

Just to start with a general health disclaimer: anything that I talked about in this episode is general in nature, it is not specific to your health because I don’t know what’s going on for you so make sure that you check with your health care provider and if you would like me to be that for you you can jump on my website dinasavitz.com and book in for a consultation.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way…what exactly is my podcast going to be about?

I’m going to let you know today what you can expect: the kinds of things that I’m going to be talking about, a little bit of an introduction as to why I’ve called My Podcast ENERGIZED and yeah that’s pretty much what today is going to be.

So let’s get straight into it. As a qualified naturopath and personal trainer, my favourite thing to do is to simplify health for my clients.

I have always been really interested in energy because I think that we have one life to fill to its fullest and I truly believe that everyone is capable of doing that, but it’s just a matter of having enough energy to do it all.

So each episode I’m going to be focusing on a different aspect of energy – so whether that is a different part of your life or a different stage of the month, even different parts of the day. I’m going to talk about how energy should be flowing to you and also talking more about how it’s normal to have dips in energy throughout the day.

So energy is not something that is going to be high all the time because it’s not meant to be – because we are human after all.

I also feel like I don’t necessarily know how long each episode is going to go for. I’m starting out with shorter episodes and I might keep it at short episodes or I might start to make them a little bit longer.

At the moment I’m going to have solo shows so what that means is it’s just going to be me talking and educating you using all of my experience and knowledge of natural medicine and exercise.

That’s not to say that it will always be a solo show – I hope to be able to interview guests soon.

I’m also really excited to share that I am going to have a weekly segment called “herb of the week”. Part of what I do as a naturopath is that I prescribe herbal medicine.

Herbs are an absolutely amazing modality which I had no idea about until I become a naturopath.

I had definitely taking a lot of herbs over the years. Growing up my parents used to take me to see naturopaths and they gave me herbs to take but no one ever really explained to me what it was that I was taking.

I was given a liquid mix or sometimes capsules or tablets to take, for whatever reason. But as a naturopath in my own clinic, whenever I’m prescribing herbs, I am a big believer in the power of knowing what you’re taking something for because that can also help with your recovery from whatever it is that you’re taking the herbs for.

So every week on this podcast I’m going to spotlight a different herb – and I’m going to talk about the amazing benefits of every herb and what those herbs can be used for or helpful for, especially when it comes to energy.

So this week I actually want to start with one of my favourite herbs, which is chamomile. The reason I’m starting with chamomile is because it’s so well known. You can buy chamomile tea pretty much in every supermarket, most people know it as a tea and herbs can be taken in many different forms and tea is a very traditional way of using herbs, one that can be super effective.

I use herbal teas with clients but I also use liquid extract as they’re useful in treating something that you need a little bit of a higher dose for.

Chamomile is very much known for its nervous system support so it’s useful to help encourage or promote sleep, especially in kids. It can be really good at night as a nice relaxing calming and nervous system supportive tea to be drunk, but it is also really good at giving you more energy and that’s because sometimes your nervous system needs to relax and it needs to switch off and it needs to be supported in order for you to have more energy.

I’m going to be talking about how you don’t necessarily have to have energy all the time you can have energy highs and energy lows throughout the day and towards the evening that’s when you want to be winding down – so chamomile is a really beautiful herb to start drinking at night to help your body relax and to help signal for your body that it’s almost time for bed. It tells your body it’s almost time to switch off from the day and take a little bit of time out for yourself.

So that’s pretty much it.

What I am also going to be doing alongside my herb of the week is I am pretty active on Instagram @dinasavitz – so on Instagram every week I’ll be posting about my herb of the week and a little bit more information about it over there for you. So I’d love for you to jump on my Instagram and continue the conversation with me because as much as I love talking to you via my podcast I also want to hear your thoughts on what I have to say and Instagram is the best place for me to continue that conversation.

So jump on over @dinasavitz and check out my herb of the week and let me know if anything that I said in today’s podcast has resonated with you.

Thank you so much for tuning and I’m so grateful to be live, finally! It’s taken a little bit to get me here and I hope that you will continue to listen to me on the weekly. Have a beautiful rest of the day!
