Unsure if a detox is for you? Read this…

Never done a detox before?

Scared that it’s going to be too-hard to do?

Unsure of what exactly is involved in a detox? Or find the word “detox” a little bit foreign?

I hear you.

The word detox does not have a very positive association in my mind either.

It seems to ring in my ears next to words like “lemon detox” and “juice only detox” and even makes me feel as though I’m “toxic” – none of which closely resemble what detoxing should really be about.

Then why call it a detox?

There are over 80 000 toxins present in the environment. On a daily basis, you are subjected to these toxins, even if you are eating well and exercising daily. They are unavoidable and come in the form of processed foods, plastics (like water bottles), cigarette smoke (either direct or second-hand), air pollution including car fumes, cleaning products and personal hygiene products (think everyday products like deodorant).

Even though your body is able to process these toxins, the large amount can overburden the natural detoxification processes – and result in you feeling run down, low in energy, flat, sluggish or just plain exhausted.

A detox is a method of improving your health and making you feel better – and it doesn’t have to be hard.¬†

I have developed a program which supports your body with its usual detoxification processes and walks you through every step over the 21 days.

Every day, your liver is working to remove toxins from your body. So too, are your kidneys, intestines and skin – and while all of these organs do an amazing job, they appreciate a bit of help and the ability to rest every so often – just like you enjoy a break from work to go on a holiday.

The 21 Day Detox program is a food based method which aims to assist your liver to metabolize the food you eat, give your body (especially your digestive tract) a rest from some of the harder-to-digest foods it processes on a daily basis, and allow you to re-set your body so that it’s ready for the change in season.

The program comes with a 7 day meal plan – so you don’t even have to think about what you are going to eat – and the suggested meals are tasty too! There will be an interactive facebook group which will be “private”, allowing you the opportunity to ask me any questions you have while you are on the program. It will also be a space for sharing recipes as well as a forum for discussing the program with other participants.

The program is based upon practices and eating plans that I use in my clinic, and based upon my clients’ feedback and results – it is not a hard program to follow, and the results speak for themselves.
